Opportunities for international publishers and cultural institutions

During the month of June, Fundação Biblioteca Nacional (the National Library of Brazil) unveiled two new support programs aimed for foreign publishers and cultural institutions worldwide.

The Support Program for the Translation and Publication of Brazilian Authors 2015-2017 aims foreign publishers who wish to translate and publish Brazilian authors into any language – for previously published works in Brazilian Portuguese. That also includes other CPLP – countries where Portuguese is considered as official national language, like Portugal, Mozambique and Angola, among others. The main goal is to spread the Brazilian literature abroad by granting financial support.

The first evaluation meeting for the assessment of applications is scheduled to take place on August 12th, 2015; in order to participate in that first row, editors should submit their subscriptions until July 29th.

The International Exchange Program for Brazilian Authors has the purpose of promoting Brazilian literature through the concession of grants. The purpose of the Program is to provide coverage of transportation expenses related to the participation of Brazilian authors at international literary events.

The grant is aimed at foreign publishers, who wish to promote the works of Brazilian writers at literary events, as well as cultural institutions, which host literary activities and would benefit from the presence of Brazilian authors.
